Photo Study Of A Common Crane, Eurasian Wigeons and Redhead January 16th, 2010

Jimmy Warren and I went to Husted's Landing in Bridgeton, NJ yesterday to try to see the Common Crane (Grus grus) in the flock of eighteen mixed Sandhills and Hybrids. We were not disappointed. We then went to the Lighthouse Pool at the Cape May Point State Park. There were a bunch of ducks in the small opening in the ice, e.g. American Wigeons,  2 drake and one hen Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope), a drake Redhead (Aythya americana), two drake Ring-necked Ducks and one hen, Gadwalls, Northern Shovelers, Mallards, American Coots, Canada Geese and a pair of mute Swans. Jimmy went for a walk to one of the other ponds and photographed a Tundra Swan (see below .)

Birds seen but not photographed were, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Lesser Scaup, Snow Geese (a flock of three hundred plus several fly-overs), two Common Ravens, a flock of ~50 Wild Turkeys, Red-winged Blackbirds and a white-phased Rough-legged Hawk.
