Photo Study Of Some Birds At Barnegat And Brigantine February 19th, 2010

We got to Barnegat Jetty in the morning and saw lots of birds. The wind gusts were awful but it was worth it.

Red-breasted Merganser Drake Lands

In any event, birds seen at Barnegat but not photographed were:

White-winged Scoter
Great Cormorant
Ring-billed Gull
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Savannah Sparrows
Fish Crows
American Crows

We then went to E.B. Forsythe NWR (Brigantine). We should have stayed at Barnegat but the wind there was really brutal. In any event, species seen at Brig but not photographed were:

Bald Eagle (3 year old)
Fish Crows
American Crows
Red-winged Blackbirds
American Robins
Northern Flickers
Mute Swans
American Black Ducks
Mallards
Buffleheads
Hooded Mergansers
Common Mergansers
Savannah Sparrows
Hermit Thrush
Snow Geese (Flock of ~1000)

There were more than 1000 Brant out in the marshes.

Please click on either the captions or the thumbnails below to see a larger image of some of the birds photographed today...thanks!
Captions in Green were at Brigantine and Captions in Red at Barnegat.
