Some Photos Of Birds
Near The Barnegat Light State Park Jetty
We were able to spend
the morning on the jetty at Barnegat Light State Park on Long Beach Island in
New Jersey today. Here are photographs
of some of the birds seen.
BTW, the
Harlequin Duck (Histrionicus
histrionicus) breeds from Alaska to
northwestern Wyoming
and from northern Quebec and Labrador to northern New Brunswick. It also breeds
in Greenland, Iceland and Siberia. It winters along the Pacific Coast from Alaska
to
northern California and along the Atlantic Coast
from Newfoundland
to New Jersey.
It is also found in Greenland, Iceland and along the Pacific Coast southward
to Japan. The Harlequin Duck’s normal
habitat is a mountain stream or river, usually in forested regions, where it
dives for its prey (insects, fish and marine invertebrates) on or near the bottom.
