August Mirabella  and I took a chance and went out to Berks County this morning to find the Western Kingbird (Tyrannus verticalis) in Morgantown. We got lucky for about twenty minutes until the Kingbird disappeared on us. Notice the red "crest" in the midline of his head in the photo "Western Kingbird5". We then went over to another site that was reported to have a juvenile Red-headed Woodpecker (Melanerpes erythrocephalus) in residence. We quickly  found this pretty bird and were able to photograph it for about twenty minutes before the light failed us...oh well. Please click on the thumbnails or caption to see a larger image.
