Photo Study Of Some Birds At Bombay Hook NWR And Port Mahon, August 3rd, 2010
The migration has started at Bombay Hook NWR and Port Mahon. There were 100's of Swallows on the wires on Whitehall Neck Road coming into the Refuge. I counted over 400 Short-billed Dowitchers in a flock out in the middle of Shearness Pool. There were thousands of shorebirds on the salt side of Shearness unfortunately too far out to photograph. Port Mahon also had thousands of shorebirds occupying every piece of sand and mud on the incoming tide at 2:00 PM.
