North America’s largest land carnivore is the Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus). He is the consummate hunter and has been known to track his quarry for as much as 200 miles. As big and powerful as he is, this poor bear stands no chance against the aggressive behavior, greed, ingenuity and wanton destructive attributes of man.

                       Exploration

                       White Polar Bears stalk open Floes,
                       Of frozen Seas and northern Snows;
                       Bright Midnight Sun's Aurora glows,
                       While Arctic Wind its Bone Chill blows.
                       Névé piles up on Mountain Scapes,
                       As Ice glacé carves coastal Shapes,
                       For Seals or Walrus, rocky Scrapes;
                       And Man, for Oil, the Tundra rapes!
