The argument that it’s not the gun but the person behind the gun is absurd. Worse than that one is that there are ample laws on the books that just need to be better enforced. The recent rash of school shootings is not just a tragedy caused by children who are either alienated, self-destructive or callous to the harm they can cause to others, but also one of a society that promotes if not enjoys violence and permits guns to be so available! If the Constitution truly guarantees the right for all of us to bear arms, I am certain that the Founders would have intended Flintlocks rather than Machine Guns and Automatic Weapons not to mention Teflon-coated Bullets. The Public, the Congress and our political leadership are totally irresponsible as they continually allow themselves to be persuaded by the NRA, the gun lobby and Moses, er... Sir Charlton Heston.

In October of 2002, John Allen Muhammad, a Gulf War veteran, and his teenaged accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, preyed on the Washington, D.C. area for twenty-two days. The two snipers shot thirteen people, killing ten and critically wounding three others, using a Bushmaster .223 caliber high-powered rifle. Considering the gun crazy population in the United States, this particular weapon model will now undoubtedly become a much sought-after collectible.

I cannot believe that if the NRA just happens to contribute money to a politician or to a political party that they really don't want something in return!

                 ‘Bout Weapons used to maim and slay;
                 That Congressmen have sold away,
                 Their Souls, for Votes, to NRA.

                 Assaulting Rifles on the Loose,
                 We won’t cease-fire or call a Truce;
                 The Reason’s clear, one can deduce,
                 They're out to turn the Deer to Mousse!

                 Oh Snipers cause such awful Pain,
                 So many hurt; so many slain;
                 The Motive Rage, Chaos or Gain,
                 More Fear and Angst; it’s just insane!

                 Mad Massacres; against the Rule;
                 Where sad Kids kill their Friends at School;
                 To play big Shot, perhaps, the Fool,
                 When will we learn, damn, Guns are cruel!
