Photo Study Of A Juvenile Ibises At Green Lane, August 2nd - August 5th, 2010

Kevin Crilley found and reported a Juvenile Ibis sp. at Green Lane Park (Church Road) on July 26th, 2010. The bird was joined two days ago by another juvenile Ibis.

It is virtually impossible to distinguish between the Glossy and White-faced Ibis with birds this immature. The odds are, however, based on the Ibises we see in this area, that these two are Glossy Ibises. However, to be absolutely safe,  I think they should be identified “ Ibis sp.” in this Study. Also, please note the white markings on their necks.  In any event, both birds are very pretty and apparently the first Ibises to be reported in Montgomery County since 2002.
