Domestic violence, as seen so recently in the O.J. Simpson trials, continues on and on causing pain, frustration and eternal shame. The verbal, psychological, sexual, physical abuse and assault inflicted on family members by other family members is something I will truly never understand.

Apparently the Black and White communities totally disagree about Mr. Simpson's guilt. This polarization is probably the direct result of the cultural differences that still exist in the United States because of over two centuries of racism. Unfortunately, this is still exacerbated by the government's, if not officially authorized, reprehensible practice of racial profiling. The Black Community has learned to distrust the police and our other institutions of social and legal justice.

                But Who's to Blame?

                In Case you've missed, there's Spouse Abuse,
                From flying Fist to Substance Use;
                Flared Tempers, pissed; Insults profuse;
                Control impaired, just Morals loose,
                Compulsive Rage or extra Juice?
                When Dander's up, some dumb Excuse,
                Will let a Gander cook his Goose,
                Get off scot-free, then slip the Noose!

                Mad Violence, domestic, thrives,
                With so-called Husbands; battered Wives,
                Bad Attitudes; wild sexual Drives?
                As Marriage ends, much Pain arrives,
                Romance dies out and Love crash-dives;
                Still Anguish, without Hope, deprives,
                Each languished Child; no one survives,
                Sad, broken Homes; such shattered Lives!
