We’ve had enough snow this year to bury Florida. The snow covered Japanese Umbrella Pine in our back yard is the Pennsylvania State Tree. Icicles glisten as they hold up our window sills.

                        Optimism

                        Nor'Easters are a Blizzard Show,
                        One awesome Storm for all to know;
                        Just Sleet and Frost; bold Gales ablow,
                        Cold Gust o’Winds with freezing Snow.

                        Umbrella Pine Boughs, coated, still,
                        Icicles line our Window’s Sill;
                        While Suet, Seed in Feeders, fill,
                        Keep Songbirds safe from Winter’s Chill.

                        Steep, icy Piles may shift, grow high,
                        Pure white beneath the gray cast Sky;
                        I have no Doubt nor wonder Why,
                        Each Drift begone by next July!
