Thanksgiving has always been the “traditional family gathering” at our home.  Somehow this holiday has managed to keep from becoming too commercialized. We are still able to bring everyone together to enjoy each other’s company, eat an outstanding meal and watch a football game or two. Throughout the years our family has changed a great deal. Those of us still around truly enjoy this wonderful day. However, it is a very special time to remember the too many who, unfortunately at this stage of my life, are no longer with us!

The first photo is an aerial view of Nockamixon Park in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in all its autumnal glory. The second and third are of Rosemarie's incredible yet typical Thanksgiving table. The fourth image is of a North Fork, Long Island pumpkin field.The fifth photo shows the changing leaves in western New York State. The sixth picture is one of a strutting Tom Turkey crossing at the back of our property. The seventh is part of the flock running for the woods. The eighth is a photo of the fall scene along a hiking trail in Maryland and the ninth shows a beautiful Stony Brook fall scene at the creek by Shipman's Point. The last image is of Long Island artist Joe Reboli's painting, "Fall Harvest After The Rain".

              Pilgrim’s Progress

              Fall’s Season brings Traditions old,
              Rock Maples, Oaks bear Colors bold;
              Last Summer’s Grass has spun to Gold,
              When Days grow short, Nights frosty cold;
              Thanksgiving’s Tale will soon unfold.

              On Tables decked, starched Linen white,
              Place Settings checked, Bone China’s bright;
              Spiced Pumpkin Pie; dry Wines delight,
              Clear Crystal Glass, by Candlelight;
              Our Feast, World Class; an awesome Sight!

              Convivial’s the Atmosphere,
              This Holiday we so revere;
              As Fam’lies come from Far and Near,
              With Appetites that persevere,
              To help Roast Turkeys disappear!

              It's Fun to be the Host sincere,
              Most Loved Ones Home, all gathered Here;
              Toast Drinks; fine Food; best Friends; good Cheer;
              Yet Wear and Tear; no Rest, severe,
              Methinks, I’ll be, your Guest, next Year!
