A Study Of Red Knots And Some Other Birds In Delaware

I had a meeting in Baltimore today and decided to stop at Port Mahon Ditch Road in Little Creek, DE (well, it was right on my way home...well sort of!) In any event, there were thousands of Ruddy Turnstones and about fifty Red Knots among them waiting for Horseshoe Crab eggs to wash in with the tide. I photographed several different Red Knots in various stages of breeding plumage as well as some other shorebirds. Afterwards, I did one loop at Bombay Hook NWR in Smyrna, and was able to photograph a few very colorful male Blue Grosbeaks.
